“An all-female comedy not about frogs. ”

Hecate Theatre Co.

SUMMARY

A brand new adaptation of Aristophanes’ zany comedy about summoning dead playwrights to settle a divine score.

Join the god of drama, Dionysus, on a journey to the Underworld to spark rivalry, ribbiting and an epic battle of wits. Hecate Theatre’s Frogs is an all-female take on this bonkers Greek classic. Charles Scherer’s script features a literary smack-down between William Shakespeare and Jane Austen, while Sara Garrard provides a quirky percussive soundtrack. Helmed by Exeter-trained director, Abbi Davey, and with local artist, Charlotte Cooke, on board, Hecate create a murky post-apocalyptic world in which the grotesque ‘frogs’ tell their story as an ensemble cast of five females.

With plenty of slapstick humour, live music and a whole lot of amphibians – it’s sure to be a riot!
