“"What's that smell in this room? Didn't you notice it? Didn't you notice a powerful and obnoxious odor of mendacity in this room?"”

A plantation in Mississippi. It's Big Daddy's 65th birthday and the whole family is back to celebrate: his favourite son, Brick, a former football star with a broken leg; Brick's young, beautiful wife, Maggie the Cat, who is trying as hard as she can to lure her husband away from the bottle and back into her arms; Big Daddy's older son Gooper, whose wife is about to bring into the world the sixth in a line of 'no-neck monsters'; Big Mama, and the grandchildren. Everyone's there to celebrate. But why is there so much talk of the inheritance? What did the doctor tell Gooper that Big Daddy doesn't know? What happened between Brick and his now deceased best friend?

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, by Tennessee Williams, is considered to be one of the best plays of the 20th Century. It won Williams his second Pulitzer prize for drama and was made into a major film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. With a top-notch creative and production team, this is sure to be one of the biggest shows of the year.
