SUMMARY

A man wakes up in a theatre: Who is he? He doesn’t know. What is he doing? He definitely doesn’t know! In his comic play, The Actor’s Nightmare, Christopher Durang presents every actor’s greatest fear – George (as our actor/accountant is apparently named) doesn’t know his lines, doesn’t know what play he’s in, and yet is surrounded by accomplished actors who seem to think he does!

Cue spoofs of Coward, Shakespeare, Beckett and Robert Bolt, and you have a recipe for (hopefully controlled) theatrical disaster, as George is at one instant dragged, and at another, hurled along through scenes which are sure to make anyone whose ever forgotten a line on stage squirm in their seat!

Questioning the seriousness of the theatre, and offering a hilarious parody of some of literature’s most respected writers, The Actor’s Nightmare is sure to provide half an hour of terrific comedy. Only one question remains: Will George make it to his curtain call?
