SUMMARY

Set in a world of deserts, salt lakes, birds, mermaids and ritual, a village beside a lake is threatened by drought. Two sisters twinned by birth and prophesy set off on an epic, healing and emotionally-testing journey to the sea in a magical realist inspired play.

The Last of The Lake is a piece about survival and the nature of opposites and asks wider questions about how community, belief and climate shape our lives. Part survival story, part coming-of-age fable, Rough Fiction have taken inspiration from a range of literary sources including Midnight’s Children and The Little Mermaid to tell their tale.

Epic, witty and moving, The Last of The Lake is a new production – co-commissioned by Brighton Dome – from acclaimed young theatre company Rough Fiction.

Rough Fiction tour The Last of The Lake thanks to a touring grant from Arts Council England and through relationships with partner venues in the South East.
