SUMMARY

The Vagina Monologues unlaces women from the corsets of social constraint and allows them to mention the unmentionable; in fact, it encourages them to shout it from the rooftops. It is an unembarrassed and intimate look into what it means to be a woman – or what it means to have a vagina. A revolutionary piece of writing, it has started an international movement raising awareness of domestic violence against women, and as such has helped to improve the lives of women all over the world. But it is valuable not only for the good it has done but also for its artistic worth. Pithy and powerful, it puts across its message in a sensitive yet entertaining manner, and will not stop until that message has been both heard and acted upon.

All proceeds from our production go to V-Day and Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre (www.oxfordrapecrisis.net). V-Day is a global activist movement to stop violence against women and girls (www.vday.org).
