SUMMARY

Based on the short lived reign of one of Rome’s most infamous emperors, Camus’ adaptation explores one individual’s tragic reaction to his realization of the absurdity of the human condition.

Following the death of his beloved sister Drusilla, the most powerful man in the Roman Empire disappears for three days and three nights. He returns with a single objective: to understand the meaning of life. In this new, darkly comic translation, a charismatic leader is given the absolute freedom to challenge every social convention, destroying men, gods, and ultimately himself, in what Camus described as "the most human and most tragic of mistakes".
