SUMMARY

'A short, golden age

When there was justice - nearly.'

Among the ruins of a Caucasian village, the members of two collective farms perform an epic tale.

Servant girl Grusha rescues a royal child from the midst of civil war. Drunken clerk Azdak is thrust into the Judge's robes. When the child's real mother returns, Azdak decides an ancient test - the chalk circle - will resolve the dispute. Who wins?

'Between Easter Mass and Easter feed

You'll turn into dust and rock and seed.'

Brecht's comic and poignant morality masterpiece is vividly reimagined with live music and found-object puppetry by a tight-knit ensemble.
