SUMMARY

Kissing the Floor is a never before performed adaptation of Sophocles’ Antigone by New York playwright Ellen McLaughlin (Iphegenia and Other Daughters, the Trojan Women.)

In depression era America, Annie returns home to find her brother Paul in prison for child abuse. Despite the fact that he molested her when they were young she visits him in jail, and endeavors to protect him from the other inmates who want him dead. Paul appears to be somewhat mentally handicapped, and as the day of his release draws near, Annie wonders: How is she going to take care of him? And how is she going to stop him, a serial sexual predator, from striking again?
