Oxford Opera presents two short (30 min) operas written by contemporary British composers Judith Weir and Jonathan Dove in one evening, in the candlelit setting of University College Chapel.

Weir's 1985 breakthrough work 'The Consolations of Scholarship', inspired by early Chinese Yuan drama, is coupled with Dove's beautiful 2010 work for countertenor, soprano and harp 'Seven Angels', which receives its first ever public performance.

***26th May, 8pm in the chapel before the performance - Alasdair Middleton, librettist of 'Seven Angels', will appear in conversation with David Evans, who commissioned the work, and Gerard Hastings, for whom the work was written.***
