SUMMARY

On the eve of a wedding, the bride prepares to accept the honour and prosperity she will receive through marriage but first she has to decide between her intended groom and her lover, Leonardo. The wedding party is a joyful celebration of music, dance and song but the bride’s choice unleashes dark forces which have fateful consequences.

Using stunningly poetic language, Blood Wedding engulfs us in a world where desire and passion are pitched against claustrophobic ritual and repressed emotions.

Oxford Theatre Guild returns to the Playhouse with a production featuring music and movement developed from working with the renowned flamenco guitarist Rafael, creating a rich soundscape of voice and rhythm, which brings to life Lorca’s lyrical drama of the fight between duty and passion.
